The showcase, founded by Dublin musician Qbanaa, will feature appearances from some of the most exciting up and coming artists in the Dublin music scene.
Calling Dublin jazz and soul fusion artists: music showcase night Soul Juice is back with its final event of the year, this time falling on Saturday 23rd December at the Sugar Club.
The event will feature appearances from indie-pop outfit Cableboy and Qbanaa's seven-piece Latin soul troupe, followed by the event's signature improv jam session. Doors are at 7:30 pm on Saturday, and tickets are on sale now: they're €13 online and €15 cash at the door.
Founded by neo-soul musician Qbanaa in January, Soul Juice is inspired by the London jam scene and is meant to facilitate musical connections between Ireland's rnb/soul/jazz lovers. Past Soul Juice alumni include Havana Roots, Oceanna, Decarteret, Bricknasty, Shiv, Jafaris, Toshin and Melina Malone.
The process of playing onstage is similar to the London jams Soul Juice is based on: musicians will sign up at the door with their name and the instrument they play, and then get up on the stage when they're ready. With no set structure, they rely on the musicians to communicate through music, the "beauty of improvisation". The event will provide backline, musicians only need to bring their own breakables and when they're ready, the team will help them set up.
