The moving and critically acclaimed memoir and film, Wild will be turned into a television series
Last year, a new film was released based on the 2012 written memoir, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail .
The film stars Reese Witherspoon as the intriguing protagonist, Cheryl Strayed, and Laura Derm as Strayed's late mother.
The high star ratings of the film have encouraged creators to transform the memoir and movie into a television series, which will continue to feature both Witherspoon and Derm.
The true story showcases Strayed following a tumultuous break-up and the tragic death of her mother, as she spirals out of control into self-destructive habits. In order to overcome her hardships, Strayed decides to embark on one of the most difficult hiking treks in the world - 1,100 miles of the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail.
Strayed and her husband, filmmaker Brian Lindstorm, will write the TV adaption that will explore the themes of love, exploration, lust, life and truth.
Witherspoon and Derm will also co-produce the series along with Strayed and Lindstorm.
