Listen to a track from fab new Wilt album My Medicine
"The reason we’re doing this, is to avoid what’s become, especially in Dublin, an extremely consumer-driven city. Art has really gone out the window and been replaced by overt consumer conditions. Shopping is now the new music."
So says Cormac Battle, the (brilliantly-named) frontman of "post-emo Irish rock sensations" Wilt (their words, not ours) – and he ain’t wrong. But on the evidence of their smashing second album My Medicine (loads more of debut Bastinado’s relentless pop growl, plus even sharper songwriting), if anyone’s perfectly placed to wrench people’s hearts back to the important things in life – passion, independence, substance – Battle is that soldier.
My Medicine is released this Friday, July 5th – and, Wilt are playing the Witnness festival next weekend (Saturday the 13th) - and anyone who’s seen them at Witnness, before knows that Wilt were pretty much made for the festival stage. So to celebrate all this good stuff, we’ve got a sneak preview of "The Plan", their new LP’s closing track, for you to hear.
