The National Concert Hall have announced concerts from Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi, the Brad Mehldau Trio, and the Anouar Brahem Quartet as part of its 2025 Perspectives series.
The series, which promises "an unforgettable celebration of global music traditions," will begin with the Brad Mehldau Trio's show on June 25. Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi will perform on September 10, joined by special guest Seckou Keita, while the Anouar Brahem Quartet's show is scheduled for November 2.
The Brad Mehldau Trio is made up by influential pianist Brad Mehldau, bassist Felix Moseholm, and drummer Jorge Rossy. The trio are known for their distinctive fusion of jazz, classical, and pop influences. Their inventive reinterpretations of songs by The Beatles, Radiohead, and George Gershwin, along with their original compositions, have earned them global acclaim.
Rhiannon Giddens is a Pulitzer-winning musician, and Francesco Turrisi is an Italian multi-instrumentalist and composer. The duo have released two collaborative albums: 2019's There Is No Other, and 2021's They're Calling Me Home, with the latter winning Best Folk Album at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The Anouar Brahem Quartet is led by Tunisian oud master Anouar Brahem, with Django Bates on piano, Mats Eilertsen on double bass, and Anja Lechner on cello. The quartet will return to Dublin with After the Last Sky, a musical journey inspired by the works of renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. The project features a fusion of Arabic musical traditions, jazz, and chamber music.
