The new album is reminiscent of Link Wray and Duane Eddy. ‘Two For His Heels’ which was released on February 21, is the opening track on the album.
In London’s West End, the award winning musical Standing At The Sky’s Edge was based on music created by Hawley. The show, which opened earlier this month will have a six month run in the historic theatre district.
Hawley’s music has also made appearances in acclaimed television dramas Peaky Blinders, The Full Monty and Hijack. His song ‘Dear Alien (Who Art In Heaven)’ has been shortlisted for Best Original Song at this year’s Oscars for its appearance in Wes Anderson’s film Asteroid City.
The title for his forthcoming album was taken from his song ‘People’ which was written about Sheffield, the town in which he is from. The song is about the city and its history of industrialism and determination of its citizens.

When speaking about the album, Hawley says, “I’ve made three albums where I had the title before I'd even begun to record, where I had an agenda. One was Truelove’s Gutter. Another was Standing At The Sky's Edge when I wanted to turn everything up and make the music a lot more aggressive, and then this one. I wanted it to be multi-coloured in a way… focusing on the voice and what voices can do together… I deliberately only played a handful of guitar solos to keep it focused on voices, the song and space”
