American rapper, producer and singer Rico Nasty will play the Academy Green Room on Tuesday 28 May. Tickets go on sale from €20 on Friday 5 April at 10 am from Ticketmaster.
Since dropping her first mixtape, Summer’s Eve, back in high school, Rico’s rise to the top has been meteoric. A string of viral singles such as 2016’s ‘iCarly’ and ‘Hey Arnold’ cemented her status as an internet star, and her breakout mixtape Tales of Tacobella received nods from Washington Post, XXL, Pigeons & Planes and more the following year.
The 21-year-old navigated a world of her own on 2017’s Sugar Trap 2, accompanied by alter egos Tacobella and Trap Levine. Rico’s tunes made it to the world of film and TV with ‘Poppin,’ which appeared on HBO’s hit series Insecure. Rico then collaborated with fellow rapper Lil Yachty on ‘Mamacita’ for the official soundtrack of Fate of the Furious. Not long after these milestones, Rico signed to Atlantic Records.
2018 saw Rico nearly sell out a headline tour. The rapper’s microphone prowess offered a respite from a scene preoccupied with auto-tune and mumbling – she refused to abandon her passionate bars.

Pitchfork awarded Rico’s subsequent album Nasty a coveted 8.0 rating and proclaimed it “one of the hardest rap records of the year.” At the same time, Rico made the cover of acclaimed music magazine The Fader.
