The band, known for tracks like 'Silver Lining' and 'Portions for Foxes' will reunite in California this year.
A Los Angles billboard reveals Rilo Kiley will perform at the Just Like Heaven festival in Pasadena, California.
This comes in spite of a 15-year hiatus, interrupted by a performance in 2021. The billboard, displayed in Echo Park, also advertises musical acts such as Vampire Weekend, Empire of the Sun and Bloc Party. The festival is planned for May 10, though may be rescheduled due to the LA wildfires.
Lead guitarist Blake Sennett told the Consequence of Sound in 2011, “I would say that if Rilo Kiley were a human being, he’s probably laying on his back in a morgue with a tag on his toe. Now, I see movies where the dead get up and walk. And when they do that, rarely do good things happen.”
Other members seemed more open for change.
“I don’t really plan too far ahead," lead singer Jenny Lewis told Hot Press in 2019. "These days I just make coffee, take a shower, pick out a weird outfit, get stoned and show up. It keeps it loose, you know? I don’t want to take this shit too seriously.”

Fans have speculated about the bands return after they updated their profile photo on streaming services and introduced new merchandise on Bandcamp. Aside from their 2021 reunion show, the closest listeners got to a full performance was when Sennett appeared at Lewis’s 2015 Coachella set for ‘Portions for Foxes’.
Other activity from the band came in 2020, when they reissued their self-titled debut album and uploaded it to streaming services. Before this, their last release came in April of 2013 with the compilation album rkives.
