From busking tours to opening up for major Irish acts, Northern Irish indie newcomer Jack Devlin returns with the follow up to his debut single ‘Lies,’ this time with a sultry ballad of longing.
Hailing from the Mourne Mountains, Jack Devlin is a hidden treasure of Northern Ireland – but he’s well on his way toward the spotlight. His new single ‘Dialogue’ was released on Friday, September 22, a three minute power ballad fueled by emotion and crashing instrumentals.
The follow-up to his 2022 release ‘Lies,’ this new track was co-written and co-produced with Harry from Hudson Taylor, one of many Irish songwriters Devlin has established a symbiotic relationship with. With his roots in busking, Devlin thwarted the pandemic and the closure of music venues by taking to the streets of Irish towns, remaining active with musician friends in Sligo, Galway, Westport, Dublin and Galway.
After landing support slots with David Keenan and Hermitage Green, Devlin is gearing up for his own solo shows. A real high-energy, authentic live act, Devlin’s stage presence is an undeniable force to be reckoned with. He leaves it all on the stage, a testament to his humble busking background.
Since his busy summer of 2020, Devlin shares that he’s written and recorded over 100 songs, which will come to fruition over the next few months. The first of these is ‘Dialogue,’ a sombre, sultry piano-led ballad of longing that Devlin penned during those months of creative brainstorming.
Calling upon his Jeff Buckley, Paolo Nutini and Cold War Kids influences, ‘Dialogue’ Devlin’s distinct, raspy voice is raw and serrated on the track, with crashing, acoustic instrumentals which create a blue-eyed soul sound. His voice builds up to a cathartic chorus. Other instrumentals join in as the track climbs, with an electric guitar line bolting through the steady piano keys.

“The song is always the foundation of where I judge my success,” Devlin shares.
Jack Devlin will play a headline show at Laverys, Belfast this weekend, September 30. Tickets are available here. Check out the new single from the Northern Irish singer-songwriter, ‘Dialogue,’ below!
