Today's news is also accompanied the release of the album's lead single 'Incinerator'.
Ro Yourell – known to many as the vocalist and guitarist of huge 00s Irish indie rock band Delorentos – has announced his debut album Commencer, to be released on Friday, May 24.
Commencer will be available digitally and on limited edition vinyl, signed by the artist.
To mark the occasion, Ro Yourell will perform a full band headline show at Whelan’s Main Room, Dublin on Friday May 31.
Along with the album announcement and headliner, Yourell has today released the lead single off the album, 'Incinerate'.
'Incinerate’ is a song propelled forward by Yourell’s impressive falsetto and hypnotic guitar. With Delorentos currently on hiatus, and particularly since becoming a father, Yourell has had the creative impetus to explore big themes which the artist will continue to do in his debut LP.
Speaking on the upcoming project the musician said: “Commencer reflects on a life learned through the prisms of family, religion and the myriad other systems that we create to enhance our experience, but which can become an end in themselves.

“I am a product of my society, but as a forty-something shapeshifter I am fortunate to have the experience and some awareness to stand back, to reflect on how these elements have shaped and continue to shape me. Commencer is a journey towards acceptance, but more than that, it is a challenge to myself and anyone who cares to listen, to recognise and cherish that which is truly precious.
The upcoming album Commencer was co-produced by Yourell and Tommy McLaughlin of Attica studios Donegal, which has produced albums for the likes of SOAK, Pillow Queens and The Henry Sisters.
Commencer is available for preorder here.
