Inspired by the release of Elton John’s Rocketman biopic, Rod Stewart has voiced his interest in a cinematic portrayal of his own life story.
Ahead of his Saturday night show in Cork’s Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Sir Rod Stewart revealed to the Daily Mirror, “I haven’t seen the Elton John biopic, but I’d love one of me.” The two musical legends have a long history of rivalry, dating all the way back to the seventies. Stewart also revealed that the long-standing competitiveness still lingers. “We text back and forth… how many albums I’ve sold and how many he’s sold. I’m winning”, the 74-year-old rocker added.
While Rod Stewart’s 2015 album Another Country sold three times as many copies as Elton’s Wonderful Crazy Night, Stewart continued to take aim at the ‘Tiny Dancer’ singer, proclaiming that Elton’s upcoming retirement tour was “dishonest” and “stinks of selling tickets”.

Regardless of the feuding artists’ jabs, a biopic following the life and times of Rod Stewart would be an undeniable sensation. The award-winning ‘Maggie May’ singer, who has sold over 200 million records worldwide, has built quite the career.
