Two Pints will be performing in Salthill Bar this July.
Recently heavily featured in Ed Sheeran’s ‘Galway Girl’ video (which has amassed over 116 million views on YouTube), O’Connor’s Bar in Salthill has been confirmed as one of the locations for the Abbey Theatre’s presentation of Roddy Doyle’s new play during this summer’s Galway International Arts Festival.
Directed by Caitriona McLaughlin, Two Pints is adapted from Doyle’s hugely successful blog and novel of the same name. The premise is simple: two men meet for a pint in a pub. They chew the fat and set the world to rights.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have been chosen as the location for Roddy Doyle’s play,” says bar owner Tom O’Connor. “It’s been absolutely crazy here since the Ed Sheeran video anyway, but it’s also really great that the Abbey Theatre and Galway International Arts Festival have chosen to put the play on in Salthill. They staged Enda Walsh’s play Arlington in Leisureland last year, and so it’s really brilliant that the village is being used again this year. Most of the cultural events happen in the city itself, but Salthill is only a short walk away.”
Two Pints will also be staged in other pubs in Galway City and county between 24-29 July. Tickets €20/25. To book visit giaf.ie/twopints
