Rory, founding member, lead singer and co-writer with The Revs, has released a new single under the name Rory & The Island.
Rory & The Island released a brand new song, 'Call My Name', which was written and produced by Rory and recorded at Abbey Road last month in between Rory’s live show commitments.
To coincide with this announcement, Rory & The Island is scheduled to play The Workmans Club on Friday, April 26th.
This week Rory also announced a plethora of new shows including headliners and festivals. Some cracking shows which also include Alabama 3, The Academic, Feeder, Frank and Walters and Feeder.
Rory released his first solo album (20th Century) when he was nineteen years old. With The Revs, Rory had two top 5 albums here in Ireland and with some storming singles released and loved at radio (Wired To The Moon, Take It All Back, Alone With You amongst them). The band also scored a Top 30 single in the Australian chart.

The Revs got back together to play some sold out Dublin shows in 2017 and followed this with a further two in 2018. Rory himself started writing material for a solo album when he moved home to Ireland during the winter, a change of scenery from Lanzarote where he and his wife made their home for ten years, and they also welcomed their second child.
With this as the backdrop, you would be forgiven for thinking there was no room to squeeze in anything else. However, Rory began recording and performing under Rory And The Island.
He stopped using his birth name in 2007, as it was getting too confusing, saying:
“Lads were turning up to gigs expecting a totally different kind of show. I really liked bands like Florence And The Machine and Noah And The Whale at the time, and quite frankly I like the name too. Rory And The Island."
Rory And The Island charted in the Irish top 10 with “the odd” GAA reggae hit 'Jimmy's Winning Matches'. Following this cult success, Rory decided to open a live music bar in Lanzarote. He called it simply The Island. The bar opened in March 2013 and was voted No. 1 live music bar in the Canary Islands for five years until he sold it in 2018. During it’s time under Rory’s ownership he welcomed guest appearances by many including Sharon Shannon, Josh McClorey and even Robbie Keane. Rory also enjoyed performing in the bar himself.
A series of four sold-out shows in December 2018 in Ireland’s Northwest and Dublin’s Workman’s Club were followed this February by sold-out shows in Scotland and England, including Dublin Castle in Camden, London and again The Workman’s Club in Dublin.
Rory is also working on his new album which he expects will be ready for release in September.
