Dónal Lunny and Garry Ó Briain will be playing at Ann Marie Horan’s launch
Actress Ann Marie Horan will be launching her debut album, AM I AM, in Galway’s Town Hall Theatre this coming Saturday, the 9th of December.
A native of Galway, the well-known actress has been a regular on TG4’s Ros na Rún since 2007. Ann Marie also worked for many years in RTÉ, on programmes such as Fair City and most recently she produced and performed in her own one-woman show Norah Barnacle-Signora Joyce.
The album AM I AM was recorded in Creg na Vagabones, New Quay, Co. Clare by producer and multi-instrumentalist Garry Ó Briain, who composed arrangements that combine Irish and other traditional styles to create a light and deft “Folk Fusion”.
When speaking about the process Ann Marie commented, "I’m in awe of the music legends I was privileged to work with on AM I AM, among them my renowned producer Garry Ó Briain and the incomparable Dónal Lunny. All of the musicians and singers inspired me with their extraordinary talent, humility, kindness and good humour.”
Dónal Lunny and Garry Ó Briain will join Ann Marie on Saturday the 9th of December for a concert to launch the album, along with a host of other artists including the Ignite Gospel Choir and cast members of Ros na Rún. Other artists featured on the album are Gradam Ceoil TG4 winner Dermot Byrne on accordion, Brian Fleming (percussion), Paul Johnson (double bass), Tommy Keane (Uileann Pipes; Whistles), Maureen Browne (Fiddle), Laura Lynn and Keara Rose Mac Dhómhnaill (Backing Vocals).
All are welcome to attend what promises to be a great night out. The Concert begins at 8pm and there will be a pre-show reception with mulled wine & mince pies at 7.15pm. After the performance guests are also invited to join an open music session in the Town Hall Bar. Tickets for the evening are free but limited, so early booking is advisable.
