Rosie Carney and Whenyoung's performances for Van Morrison's 75th birthday celebration are going live tonight.
Following stunning performances for 'Rave On, Van Morrison' last night, we're bringing you another special evening of back-to-back Van covers – with Rosie Carney performing 'Gypsy Queen', followed by Whenyoung performing 'Irish Heartbeat'.
Over the course of the YouTube event, celebrating Van Morrison's 75th birthday, you can expect even more renditions of his remarkable songs from some of the most iconic names in the country – including President Michael D. Higgins with Bill Whelan, Hozier, Sinéad O'Connor, Bob Geldof, and Glen Hansard , to name just a few.
With the release of her acclaimed debut album, Bare, last year, acclaimed singer-songwriter Rosie Carney cemented her reputation as one of the most powerful voices in Irish music. Earlier this year, she returned with her new EP, i dreamed i was the night.
Having relocated from Limerick to London to pursue their career, Whenyoung enjoyed a landmark 2019 – releasing their debut album, Reasons To Dream, on Virgin EMI and supporting the legendary likes of Nick Cave and Garbage. After capping off the year with an Irish tour, they recently returned with a lockdown-inspired single, ‘The Prayer’, raising funds for Women’s Aid.
Rosie Carney's performance of 'Gypsy Queen' (7pm Irish Standard Time) and Whenyoung's performance of 'Irish Heartbeat' (8pm) premiere tonight, August 26, on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
