The event will see members of Bowie's band running through the late musician's iconic repertoire, collaborating with RTÉ's Concert Orchestra for two special nights of performance.
The RTÉ Concert Orchestra have announced an extra date at Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, for their performance of the songs of David Bowie.
Two bespoke nights of performance, the event is a part of this year's annual Dublin Bowie Festival — which is set to return from the 7th to the 11th of February next year.
The orchestra will be joined by three members of Bowie’s band — Gerry Leonard, Mark Plati (Lou Reed, The Cure, Fleetwood Mac and Robbie Williams) and Sterling Campbell (B52s, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and Cyndi Lauper) — to honour his legacy, and play some of his greatest hits live. Bowie's previous collaborators will be joined by a remarkable line-up of Irish and International musicians, reinterpreting Bowie's iconic discography in atmospheric, new orchestral compositions.

Guitarist Gerry Leonard — musical director of the show and Dublin native — worked extensively with Bowie, featuring prominently on his 2013 musical return The Next Day. Aside from Bowie, Leonard has played alongside artists like Rufus Wainwright, Laurie Anderson and Suzanne Vega.
Adapted from the 2021 recording for RTÉ One television, Bowie: Starman — this is the first time this show will be performed in front of a live audience, and will feature specially commissioned arrangements of classics like Life on Mars, Heroes, Starman, Changes and Space Oddity, as the orchestra and Bowie's peers unite to salute one of the most original, influential and iconoclastic musicians of our times.
Tickets for the performance go on sale Thursday, 26th October at 10am here
