Ray D'Arcy delivers a small early increase at his new abode.
This quarter's Joint National Listenership Research (JNLR) figures have arrived and it's good news for Donnybrook.
With Ray D'Arcy return to the national broadcaster from Today FM in February being the big radio news story of the year, he has seen a small increase in his first few months on the job, adding 7,000 pairs of ears to bring him to a listenship of 190,000. Morning Ireland , the nation's most popular radio show, added 16,000 for a total of 432,000, while Today With Sean O'Rourke added a similarly impressive 14,000 to hit 327,000.
Liveline arrested its slide and recouped 2,000 listeners, while John Murray ended his tenure with 9,000 additional listenership.
Tubridy saw an increase to 191,000 (increase of 47,000 year on year). The big question now is what will happen to his audience as he switches back to RTÉ Radio 1.
It was the ladies doing the big business for Radio 1 this time, however.
Miriam O'Callaghan's popularity has apparently only increased, as her Sunday slot added 21,000 listeners. Claire Byrne's Saturday show added 10,000. Marian Finucane gained a total of 9,000 listeners across the weekend.
Over at Today FM, D'Arcy's replacement Anton Savage has shed 18,000 listeners. That slot now draws an audience of 194,000. Elsewhere, Matt Cooper has lost 12,000 and Ian Dempsey is down 11,000.
On the bright side for Today FM, they've retained a strong overall weekly audience of over 900,000 at a time of change.
