RTÉ received an impressive 34 radio awards at the prestigious 2016 New York Festivals, which was held last night at New York City’s Manhattan Penthouse.
The awards are set out to honour radio programming and promotions in all lengths and formats from radio stations, networks and independent producers from around the globe.
The awards include eleven wins for RTÉ Radio 1’s multi-award-winning documentary strand, Documentary on One and seven for Drama on One. Radio 1’s The Book Show won in the ‘Best Special Event’ category for Women & Words, with featured contributors like Sabina Coyne Higgins, Miriam O'Callaghan, Olivia O'Leary and Temper-Mental MissElayneous.

“This year’s awards from the New York Festivals are a vote of confidence in the value and relevance of our RTÉ’s radio programming," said MD of RTÉ Radio, Jim Jennings.
"Once again, the RTÉ Radio 1 Documentary on One unit has excelled, bringing home eleven awards, and RTÉ Radio 1’s Drama On One received a notable seven awards. RTÉ 2FM’s new station identity won an award for its innovative new imaging,and RTÉ lyric fm’s The Lyric Feature proves again to have a winning formula, receiving a gold medal for ‘Vocal Chords: The Odyssey of the Voice’.
