The electro-RnB musician has released his debut EP with Diffusion Lab.
Hardwired to fit into your favourite party playlist, Glimpse comprises five tracks of vibe-setting electronic beats.
The debut record was produced with Diffusion Lab, the team behind breakthrough Irish artists like Soulé and Jafaris.
Rushes, also known as 22-year-old Skibbereen local Sean Walsh, released his first song, ‘Wild High,’ less than two years ago. Since then, he’s blossomed significantly as an artist: he was recently selected for 2FM’s Rising list of 2019.
Though Rushes’s success might be relatively new, his love for song writing and producing certainly isn’t. As the singer stated in an interview with GoldenPlec:
“I've been writing songs since I was 11. My first song was so bad. I was like, 17. Off the back of that, I got a support slot with James Arthur [at the Cork Opera House in 2014]. It made me realise that I have so much to work on, so I took a few years away to progress it even more.”

And progress he has. Glimpse feels like the artists has created a cohesive universe within the EP, a universe of ocean waves and autotune that encourages the listener to sway along. In a style the artist describes as “dark pop,” Rushes’s moody melodies blend with synth pulses until the virtual and human practically become one.
Highlights include ‘Passion,’ a tranquilising, sensual tune that showcases the singer’s vocal chops, and ‘Still Water,’ a smooth collaboration with Rushes’s fellow Diffusion Lab member Jafaris.
At only fifteen minutes long, Glimpse offers just that of Rushes’s potential as an artist: a glimpse. A solid declaration of Rushes’s fresh point of view.
