Following the massive success of her last single ‘Love Again’, RuthAnne returns with sensational new release ‘Superman’.
Co-written and produced by Justin Osuji (Kimbra, Little Mix, Black Saint), ‘Superman’ captures the powerhouse vocal that is signature to RuthAnne. Mixed by Jay Reynolds (Dua Lipa, Paloma Faith, Jessie Ware) the track features a sample of ‘Heart Full of Love’ by Dave Richardson & The Invincibles, which is reworked into an empowering soulful, R&B production.
On ‘Superman’ RuthAnne says “I wrote it about putting someone on a pedestal who you think is this great person, who you look up to, fall in love with but who isn’t what he/she seems. They abuse their power they show their true colours and you can see them spiralling out of control. You come to your senses and see they aren’t so ‘super’ after all. I wrote it as an anthem for women who have felt men took advantage of them because of their position.”
RuthAnne’s last smash single ‘Love Again’ featured in 13 ‘New Music Friday’ Spotify playlists globally, including UK and US, and reached No.2 in Tik Tok’s UK Hot 40 playlist. As well as that, her music has now amassed over 7 million streams so far. RuthAnne previously won ‘Woman Of The Year in Music’ at the Irish Tatler Awards and was VEVO’s ‘Artist Of The Month’ last year. She also performed for MTV PUSH live event in London last month, which you can watch here.
At just eight-years-old, Dublin-born RuthAnne started singing and song writing and performing in musical theatre productions through her stage school and regularly taking the mic at karaoke bars, winning free drinks for her parents. Her incredible career spans back to being 17-years-old, penning music for huge pop artists, including JoJo’s ‘Too Little Too Late,’ for which RuthAnne achieved the ASCAP Songwriters ‘Best Pop Song’ award. From then she wrote a string of hit records from Britney Spears’ RIAA platinumcertified ‘Work Bitch’ to One Direction’s ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’, Pentatonix’s ‘Misbehavin’ and Martin Garrix & Bebe Rexha’s In The Name Of Love’.
In 2017 she co-wrote 5 songs on Niall Horan’s debut solo album Flicker, including US #1 hit ‘Slow Hands’ - which she received a BMI award for – and as a songwriter her songs have streamed over 4 billion times. RuthAnne has also supported Alanis Morrissette, Niall Horan, Third Story, X Ambassadors and Hozier on tour. She supported Irish band Keywest on their UK and European tour earlier this year, headlined shows in Ireland and performed at Live At Leeds, Liverpool Sound City and The Great Escape. RuthAnne will be headlining Blue Balls Festival (Switzerland) and performing at a string of festivals this year including: Home Festival (Italy), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Kaleidoscope Festival (Ireland) as well as an intimate show at The Hotel Café (Los Angeles, USA).
