Irish electro- folk duo Saint Sister have announced an Irish tour this autumn. Sole members Morgan MacIntyre and Gemma Doherty will headline the Olympia Theatre, before performing at Clonakilty, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Belfast and Derry this October.
2018 has already seen MacIntyre and Doherty travel to Sweden for a headline a show in Stockholm, as well performing at Where’s the Music festival. The pair also spent the year touring across the US which included a sold-out show in Brooklyn NYC and a return to SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.
Speaking to Hot Press back in 2016 the band spoke said their experience in Austin taught them about how important the right venue is and their excitement when playing in at atmospheric setting. No doubt Irish fans will be treated to an intimate performance at both venues later this year.
Saint Sister were formed back in 2014 combining Celtic harp with ’60s folk and electronic pop to form their signature sound which they have dubbed “atmos-folk”. In 2016 Saint Sister were named “Best Irish Band” by readers of the Irish Times and followed that up with notable performances at numerous festivals including Glastonbury, Electric Picnic and Eurosonic. 2017 saw the band support Lisa Hannigan during her European tour and in September the duo opened for The National’s headline show at the Cork Opera House.
