Following stellar sets from The Wha, ELKAE and Robb Murphy over the weekend, we're delighted to announce Sara Ryan as our latest act on the Hot Press Lockdown Sessions – with a live performance at 7.30pm tonight, April 27, on the Hot Press Instagram.

Irish singer-songwriter Sara Ryan arrives on the Lockdown Sessions fresh from the release of her stunning new single, 'Human'. Originally hailing from Newbridge, Co. Kildare, and now based in Cork City, the single follows her acclaimed debut album, Breathe, released last year.

"It is written about a man who I met in Cork City who didn't have a roof over his head," Sara says of 'Human'. "The message of this song is based on how we are on the same, we are all human. Although our economical backgrounds may be different our body and soul is no different from each other. I feel that this message is very fitting with the times are are living in at the moment and it is bringing us all back to the core of who we are and what we are - human."

Since the release of her debut EP, Glitter Skies, Sara has built up an enviable reputation on the Irish scene – sharing stages with the likes of Mick Flannery, Luka Bloom, The Stunning, Wyvern Lingo and Jack L; and earning the CIT Faculty of Business and Humanities Postgraduate Scholarship 2019, to pursue a Masters in Vocal Performance.
