"I do not and never will support such heinous funding nor do I support the genocide and military assault on Gaza," the Irish artist stated.
Irish singer-songwriter Sarah Crean has become the latest act to pull out of this year's edition of The Great Escape in Brighton, due the festival's partnership with Barclays/Barclaycard.
According to the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the bank has "financial ties with arms companies that sell weapons to Israel." PSC have called on people to boycott Barclays as a result.
In a statement shared on social media, Sarah stated that, after learning about the campaign, she "immediately felt compelled to remove [herself] from an alignment with such partnership."
"Barclays/Barclaycard are responsible for investing over £1billion+ into companies that are supplying weapons and military technology to the Israel Defence Forces, furthering the atrocious attacks on Palestinians," she wrote. "I do not and never will support such heinous funding nor do I support the genocide and military assault on Gaza. I stand in complete solidarity with Palestine."
She claims in the statement that she "had hoped that The Great Escape would remove their partnership with Barclays", following a petition from many of the acts on the bill, "but this hasn't happened nor has any response been formed on the issue (as of posting)."

"With that in mind," she continues, "I have no choice but to boycott the festival and remove myself from the line-up."
As a result, Sarah will not be playing The Great Escape in Brighton, or The Road To The Great Escape in Dublin.

Derry band Cherym – and the label they're signed to, Alcopop! Records – have also pulled out of the festival in recent days, in protest against the partnership.
