The actress confirmed the news via her Instagram
It’s official: Sarah Michelle Gellar will reprise her role as Kathryn in NBC’s TV spin-off of Cruel Intentions.
The actress confirmed the news via her Instagram account last night; she posted an old photo with original producers Roger Kumble and Neal H. Moritz prior to production of the film alongside a new picture of the trio together.
‘That’s right ‘everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way’ #kathrynmerteuil is back!!!’, Gellar captioned the post, ‘I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv ) on the new #Crueltv.’
NBC’s Cruel Intentions will kick-off off 15 years after where the film left off and will centre around an all-grown-up Kathryn who spearheads an inspiring youth rehabilitation movement.
The son of the late Sebastian Valmont (the character that was played by Ryan Phillippe in the ’90s film) and Annette Hargrove (the character played by Reese Witherspoon) will also feature in the spin-off. Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, he is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption.
