Irish music legend Sean O’Hagan will play 3rd Place Coffee House in Dundalk on May 3
In what is set to be a spectacular concert, the Irish multi-instrumentalist will be performing some of his finest works from his hugely impressive archive in an intimate setting.
For over 30 years, O’Hagan has been compiling a rich and remarkable body of work with many collaborators and three extraordinary bands. In his time, Sean co-founded Microdisney, who formed out of the fertile music scene of 1980s Cork. They created several critically acclaimed albums, most notably The Clock Comes Down the Stairs, which is now hailed as a classic. When the band reformed last year to perform a sold-out show in the National Concert Hall they were awarded an IMRO/NCH Trailblazer Award, highlighting their cultural significance.
Sean then went on to form The High Llamas, releasing a slew of beautiful albums. During this time, Sean expanded his song-writing and composing talents through the creation of textured orchestral pop music. The immense talent has also been a member of Angle-French pop combo Stereolab.
With links on his father’s side to the town of Dundalk, this gig will hold a level of intimacy like no other. Support on the night will be provided by the critically-acclaimed singer songwriter Eileen Gogan and Dundalk-native Mark Corcoran.
Tickets are €12 and are available from Eventbrite.
