Fronted by current Hot Press sex columnist, Cynthia Catania, the LA-based band are best known for their superb cover of PJ Harvey’s ‘Down By The Water'.
The Secret Things have signed a label deal with the Swedish Iindie outfit Loud Cult.
The band is the brainchild of drummer Dan Nelles, bassist Steve Giles and singer and guitarist Cynthia Catania, also of Saucy Monky. The Secret Things project was born out of the musicians' common love for playing "loud, trashy rock ’n’ roll music.”
Their debut EP Shock Diary was released in the autumn of 2016. The single and video, a cover of PJ Harvey’s ‘Down By The Water’ was launched in September 2017, and was a hit on Facebook and Spotify. The band held a video party and benefit for the Trans community in LA, at the Hotel Café.
On July 6 this year, they released a song with a strong anti-Trump message, entitled ‘Bully’, via Spotify and iTunes. It deals with the mistreatment of Mexican immigrants, and in particular the since discredited Trump-ian policy of separating children from their parents.
Loud Kult is distributed by The Orchard / Sony Music.

The band are gearing up to release a new single. ‘Keeper’ on L-K Records in late September. ‘Keeper’ gives a shout-out to the #metoo movement and explores the issue of abuse by powerful men in Hollywood. The title is a play on the ‘Gatekeeper' nick-name, given to the notorious Harvey Weinstein. The band are planning to play some European dates later this year, with a stint in Germany likely to be among the highlights.
