Ahead of tonight's show at Dublin's The Grand Social, SELK drops the softly sung Shed The Skin
With a performance at Dublin's The Grand Social tonight, SELK, kicked today off with drop of their latest album, Shed The Skin.
Made up of the vocalist/composer Anna Jordan and percussionist Dennis Cassidy and the recent additions of Barry Brady and Dave Redmond as the group's guitarist and bassist respectively, SELK has been a presence in the Irish music scene since 2012. Known for their live performances, their sound is softly enrapturing and powerful.
Already released from the album is the single 'Spill,' which dropped a couple months ago with a lovely music video written, filmed, and directed by Anna. With the blurred images of trees canopies and Anna singing overlapping, it's a soft rendition of the gentle song. On the track, Anna is joined by Kate Ellis on cello and Cora Venus Lunny on violin, with the string arrangement written by Judith Ring.
Speaking on the track, Anna exclaimed that she was thrilled to collaborate with "some brilliant artists on this track, and to hear the song come to life in the studio was a really lovely moment."

Ultimately, Anna says that 'Spill' is "a song about things we can't let go of, trauma and ghosts that follow us and affect our every waking day. How difficult it is to shift perspective.”
It sets the tone for the rest of SELK's newest album, acting as the perfect introduction to Anna's lilting vocals and Dennis Cassidy's guiding percussion.
As for SELK's The Grand Social performance tonight, they'll be supported by the Wicklow artist Niamh McKinney, who has a voice that "will stop you in your tracks." It's sure to be a wonderful show, so if you're planning on attending be sure to get there early.
