Penned by Rogen himself, Sausage Party is an R-rated animation film that is due for release this coming August but fans got a sneak peek today.
Sausage Party follows the adventures of hot dog sausage Barry (voiced by Michael Cera) who's on an existential quest after falling from a shopping trolley. As he tries to find his way back to the store for the 4th of July sales Barry comes across other food goods friends. Together they learn some harsh truths regarding their existence and what awaits them in their supposed afterlife.
Alongside Rogen and Cera, there is an abundance of comedic actors lending their voices to the film including Jonah Hill, Kirsten Wiig, Paul Rudd and James Franco.
SXSW has also announced that the film will debut at the festival as a work-in-progress cut on Monday 14. However, the general public will have to wait until August 12 before they get to feast their eyes on Rogen's Sausage Party.
