Rachael Lavelle's eagerly anticipated Dublin headliner has been rescheduled to December 15
Following violence and destruction in Dublin last night, several venues and artists have announced that gigs which were originally scheduled for tonight, November 24, have been postponed or cancelled.
The Academy, located on Middle Abbey Street in Dublin, released a statement on X (Twitter) this afternoon.
"Given the unrest seen in Dublin city centre last night, in the interest of patron and staff safety we have taken the precautionary measure to close The Academy tonight, Friday 24th November," they stated. "We will update you again."
The venue was due to host Michael Schenker Group (MSG) tonight as part of the band's 50th anniversary tour.
In the comments of their social media post, The Academy reiterated that "unfortunately the gig tonight will not go ahead."

Rachael Lavelle, who was scheduled to play the Project Arts Centre in Dublin tonight, has announced that the gig will now take place on December 15.
"All tickets remain valid for new date," she wrote online. "If you can no longer attend please contact the box office at The Project Arts Centre for a full refund by 4th December. [email protected]"

Yamamori Tengu, a venue and nightclub in Dublin 1, have stated that: "Due to the rising uncertainty surrounding the situation in the city centre we have made the decision to close Yamamori Tengu tonight to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.

"We will provide further updates when we can, please stay safe and look after each other."
They added that they will be working to reschedule their event with French DJ Jennifer Cardini – which was supposed to take place tonight – noting that "Bella Festa will be in touch with all ticket holders regarding a refund."
Yamamori's space on South Great George's St, Izakaya Basement, has also announced that it is closing tonight.
Bell X1, meanwhile, have shared stage times for their gig at Vicar Street this evening – posting online today that they'll take to the stage at 9pm, following the support act, Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra, at 8pm.
The Workman's Club, located on Wellington Quay, have also shared their line-up for tonight, which will feature "House & Disco" by Kelly-Anne Byrne and "Alternative & Indie" by Steven Gannon.
34 people were arrested during last night's riots in Dublin, which followed the stabbing of children and a woman near Parnell Square that afternoon.
