While Ed Sheeran and Stormzy were two of the big winners at yesterday's Ivor Novello Awards 2018 too.
The Ivor Novello Awards aims to highlight and award "excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing” of those artists who represent “the pinnacle of musical achievement and peer recognition”.
The ex-Pogues frontman Shane McGowan was awarded at the ceremony alongside some other legendary veteran musicians, such as Billy Bragg ( Outstanding contribution to British music), Lionel Richie (Special international award), Cathy Dennis (Outstanding song collection) and Billy Ocean (International achievement).
Stormzy was honoured with the best Album award for his debut LP 'Gang Signs & Prayer' and Ed Sheeran scooped the Most Performed Work for his song ‘Shape Of You’. Sheeran was also given the Songwriter of the year gong too.

The award for Best song musically and lyrically went to Elbow's ‘Magnificent (She Says)’, which was written by Guy Garvey, Craig Potter, Mark Potter and Pete Turner.

And the Best contemporary song award went to Dave for ‘Question Time’, which was written by Dave and Fraser T Smith.
While the Best television soundtrack went to ‘The Miniaturist’ composed by Dan Jones. The Best original film score was awarded to Mica Levi for 'Jackie' and the Best original video game score went to 'Horizon Zero Dawn' which was composed by Joris de Man, Joe Henson and Alexis Smith
