Roll out the red carpet and ready the fattened calf for Limerick outfit Seneca’s welcome return to Whelan’s on October 28.
So far this year the band have completed a second tour of Scandinavia and a third tour of the US which took in close to 60 shows over four months.
2010 has proven to be a break-out year for the act with regular airplay on over 400 US radio stations, placements on MTV’s The Hills and The City as well as successful shows at the legendary Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood and Boulder Theater in Colorado.
The band will finish off the year in the studio working on their next album with Cranberries guitarist Noel Hogan. The record will follow on from their lauded debut, 2008’s Sweeter Than Bourbon…
After blowing the crowds away at Hard Working Class Heroes, Sleep Thieves hit the road for a slew of Irish dates with electro troupe Le Galaxie. They play The Spirit Store, Dundalk (October 21); the Roisin Dubh, Galway (November 5); Grand Social, Dublin (26); and Lavery’s, Belfast (27).
Sleep Thieves are also working with producer Ciaran Bradshaw (Dark Room Notes, Kill Krinkle Club, Miracle Bell) on their debut album and will be releasing some track samples later this year. HeartWaves will be released in March 2011.
In the meantime, the band are very generously making EP It Was Only A Satellite and last year’s ‘City Lights’ single available for free download at Bandcamp. Go to sleepthieves.bandcamp.com.

2010 JD Set winners, Cork’s Ladydoll, are set to unleash new single ‘Punchbag’ on October 22, with a promotional tour scheduled afterwards (see hotpress.com for details). The track is taken from the excellent debut confection The Knife Thrower And His Wife…
Amédée, the rather splendid new EP from Cork’s Exit: Pursued By A Bear, has hit the streets.
It’s a taster for the band’s forthcoming debut album, currently penciled in for spring 2011 release. The six-tracker includes remixes from Fishgodeep, Colm Kenefick and Darqhorse.
Earlier this year the band released single ‘Pish’ which received many rave reviews. They also wrote and performed the soundtrack for musical play Hoodwinked by Helen Kavanagh-Ronan which starred lead singer Tadhg Hickey. The play enjoyed two successful runs at The Pavilion, Cork and Dublin’s Button Factory.
Una Keane, the Dublin songstress, will release her debut LP Trees on November 5 on Marabou Records, her own cottage industry label. It gets an official launch at The Grand Social the following night. A six-date national tour is also planned. Check hotpress.com for details.
Three years in the making, the album was recorded in Una’s own studio in Kilmainham and her friend Ben Rawlins’ studio in the College of Music and Drama in Rathmines. It was mixed by Ben and mastered by Aidan Foley at Masterlabs, with Una and Ben co-producing the record.
