The Galway Folk Festival has recently announced the addition of legendary trad musician and singer-songwriter Sharon Shannon to this year’s event line-up in Galway.
Hot on the heels of her recent album release, Shannon is set to headline the closing night the the festival on Sunday June 9th at 7pm. After the success of her song ‘The Diddly Doo’, a collaborative track with The Scratch band, Shannon has returned with a new musical roster filled with freewheeling melodies, foot-stomping tunes and heart-warming ballads.
With 40 years of experience under her belt, Shannon continues to push the boundaries of Irish traditional music by exploring new musical territories and collaborating with artists across genres, including reggae, rap and classical.
The third edition of the Galways Folk Festival will kick off on Wednesday June 5th to Sunday June 9th, with over 50 exciting events that showcase the best of folk, roots and traditional music in venues across the city.

Previously announced headliners include beloved singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke, contemporary folk trio Amble, Glasgow-based quintet Ímar and many more.
