The track, featuring Sharon Shannon & the Big Band, will be part of the charity's "Time to Reflect" campaign.
Sharon Shannon, Jack Maher and Carol Keogh have teamed up for a new single in aid of the Irish Hospice Foundation.
As part of the "Time to Reflect" campaign, 'Written in the Stars' was released today on all streaming platforms.
Between 5-6pm on November 1, the Irish Hospice Foundation is calling on people to take a moment "to commemorate the lives of those we have loved and lost through the power of music and 'Written in the Stars'."
They are also inviting people across Ireland to share their experiences and views about dying, death and bereavement during the pandemic.
The track was inspired by an experience during Sharon's summer tour in Europe when band member Jack Maher and the singer-songwriter walked around a town in Normandy.
Jack pointed out some rare lilies, which were his Mother's favourite flower, and it so happened that this day was his Mother's anniversary. The last time Jack had seen those rare lilies was also on his Mother's anniversary a few years previously.

Sharon has supported the Irish Hospice Foundation for a long time, including when she released the 2018 charity CD The Secret Sessions alongside the family of Irish Rugby International Robbie Henshaw for the South Westmeath Hospice.
She also released the album Songs for Leo in aid of Rosabel’s Rooms in 2020, a tribute record to her partner Leo Healy who passed away at the age of 46 in 2008.
