Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory have announced their self-titled debut album, set to come out on February 7, 2025.
It is accompanied by the release of the lead single and its video, ‘Afterlife’, which juxtaposes a heavy subject matter with a synthy, almost euphoric sound.
The band have also announced their upcoming 2025 UK and Europe tour, which will kick off in Oslo on February 28 and wrap un in Glasgow on March 12, with stops in Berlin, Paris and London, among others.

Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory is the first piece that Van Etten wrote and recorded in total collaboration with her band, namely Jorge Balbi on drums and machines, Debra Hoff on bass and vocals, and Teeny Lieberson on synth, piano, guitar and vocals.

This new approach began while rehearsing in the desert for an upcoming tour when Van Etten invited her band into the creative process: “For the first time in my life I asked the band if we could just jam. Words that have never come out of my mouth – ever! But I loved all the sounds we were getting. I was curious - what would happen? In an hour we wrote two songs that ended up becoming ‘I Can’t Imagine’ and ‘Southern Life'."
The album was recorded at Eurythmics’ former studio, The Church, with producer Marta Salogni, best known for her work with Bjorl, Bon Iver, Animal Collective and more, who was vital for the creation of the record , thanks to “her love of synths and sense of adventure” and adeptness in “embracing the darkness and the unique sounds we had honed in the writing process,” comments Van Etten.
