After gracing the cover of the special 100 Voices #AllAgainstRacism issue of Hot Press last year, alongside Damien Dempsey and Celaviedmai, Sharyn Ward is back with a brand new single, 'Feeling Free'.
Infused with captivating elements of folk and country music, the track is a moving celebration of Traveller life and culture – specifically the deep bond between a man and his horse – and continues to establish Sharyn as one of Irish music's most compelling and inspirational emerging voices.
"It's been an amazing journey with this single and I hope you love it as much as I do," she says of the new single.
The release follows her 2020 album, One Starry Night, made up of a selection of folk songs. She also made a memorable appearance on Ireland's Got Talent in 2019.
Speaking to Hot Press back in November, Sharyn revealed that she was working on music "about the Traveller life and culture."

"I’m hoping people will learn a lot through that, and that it will open people’s eyes," she resumed. "My aim is that people will learn about Travellers, and we can break down this horrible wall that everybody has built up around us."
"I hope that seeing me, as a Traveller woman, will be good for the women in my community," she added. "We have very talented female singers, who just don’t feel like there’s a point in even trying. Maybe if they see me getting further in the music industry, it will build up their confidence. That’s my next plan – to go around and meet people, gather some Traveller music, and show it off to the world. I don’t know how much more I can do, to prove I’m a singer. But I am not going to stop, that’s for sure."
'Feeling Free' was produced by John Flynn of JMR Recording Studios in Shankill, Co. Dublin.
