Just as the golden mean is to architecture and the twelve-note scale is to western music, so the idea of the Hot Girl (irresistible, insatiable, un-have-able) is integral to the very fundaments of rock’n’roll. But, the thing is, you actually have to be very good to pull off the use of Hot Girl clichés (in this instance, the Hot Girl, hereafter known as ‘pretty baby’, is a chat-phobic nymphomaniac who, wouldn’t ya know it, quite fancies lead singer Shay Wall). If, on the other hand, your garage-blues riff-o-rama does not contain a single original idea or image specific enough to make any of it believeable, it all just sounds like virginal bragging in the middle-school jacks.
That said, Renko being relative newbies, at some stage we reckon they’ll figure this out and start writing about real girls. Among other things, we’re much filthier.
