Ahead of the release of her highly anticipated debut EP, expected later this year, shiv has shared 'You and I' – the first single from the project.
The new track explores shiv's own journey as an artist – as she learned to embrace the vulnerability of being creative, and express herself authentically.
"When I wrote this, it felt like it was a love song about one person giving more than they're getting in a relationship," the Dublin-born, Paris-based singer-songwriter and producer explains. "In the context of the EP, however, this to me is about the strange intimidation that I manifested towards my creativity. This song talks about the fear that comes up, the fact that you can't push your creativity, you need to allow it to come to you."
Following the release of tracks like 'Here', 'Golden' and 'Over', shiv has established herself as one of the country's most promising emerging artists – drawing influence from the likes of Jorja Smith and Biig Piig, while also crafting her own dazzlingly unique, soulful sound.
