The Icelandic multi-instrumentalist is known for his use of a cello bow on guitar and his unique falsetto voice in the post-rock band's music.
Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson has announced his first new solo album in a decade - Shiver - due out on October 2, 2020.
Fresh from releasing his new single 'Exhale', Jónsi has also dropped a dark new song 'Swill' alongside a surreal music video directed by Barnaby Roper and animated by Pandagunda
“I strap lace around your skinny waist / It might as well have been / My neck that’s hanging in,” he sings.
He described the track as "getting too drunk and doing something stupid, and making a fool of yourself."
His Shiver announcement follows Jónsi’s solo debut Go, which was released in 2010.

The musician has worked on Sigur Rós LPs Valtari and Kveikur, two LPs with Swedish artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff ('Dark Morph' and 'Dark Morph II') and a 2019 solo art exhibit in Los Angeles.
Jónsi recently confirmed that he tested positive for coronavirus, and was sick for two or three weeks.
He has since been spending time working on music, film, sculptural work and even perfume.
The new album will feature cameos from Robyn and Cocteau Twins’ Liz Fraser, with Jónsi teaming up with PC Music's A.G. Cook - renowned for his contributions to Charli XCX's work.
Shiver is currently available for preorder here.
