Sinead O'Connor is the latest addition to the A-listers as Music Ireland 06.
The singer and songwriter – far and away the most important Irish female artist of the past 30 years – will take part in the songwriting panel, which takes place on Saturday afternoon. She joins Jerry Fish, whose 'True Friends' was one of the biggest Irish hits of recent years, as well as Pete Holidai of The Radiators and Pugwash – who has just released the superb Christmas single "Tinsel and Marzipan".
Hot Press are also pleased to announce the results of the Live Stage Competition at Music Ireland '06 at the RDS this weekend.
Dublin-based quartet Super Jimenez have been chosen as the overall winners while 9 acts were short-listed for an online competition. The nine acts had their songs uplaoded on hotpress.com and fans could listen and then vote for their favourite act.
With votes flying in from all over Ireland, across Europe and the UK, Corkonians Eve of Mind topped the poll while Dublin singer-songwriter Colm Lynch came a close second.
Eve of Mind will take to the Live Stage at 2:30pm on Saturday, after Mullingar ska-meisters The Blizzards, who are on at 1:30pm.
On Sunday, Colm Lynch will be on at 2:15pm, just before Boss Volenti, with the Immediate and Director hitting the stage afterwards.
