The special tribute issue – featuring powerful contributions from the Irish singer's friends, family and fellow artists – is now on pre-sale.
Ahead of the publication of the special Sinéad O'Connor tribute edition of Hot Press – celebrating the life and legacy of one of the most important Irish artists of the past 50 years – we can now reveal a first-look at the stunning final cover.
The tribute issue, which is set to be a separate, one-off publication by Hot Press, features moving contributions from many of her friends, family, fans, and fellow musicians – including Bob Geldof, Hozier, The Edge, BP Fallon, Moya Brennan, John Reynolds, Joseph O'Connor, Juli Ni Mhaoileoin, Kathryn Ferguson, Gary Lightbody, David Holmes, Dot Allison, Denise Chaila, Shane MacGowan, Victoria Mary Clarke, Gavin Friday and more.
The striking photograph that features on the cover is taken from a photoshoot by Myles Claffey – which originally featured in Hot Press Vol. 24 No. 10, published in June 2000.
In addition to the guest contributions, the tribute issue to Sinéad – who died at her home in London on July 26, aged 56 – will feature marvellous pictures, an archive piece from the late Hot Press great Bill Graham, and more reflections on the remarkable range of Sinéad's artistry.
“Sinéad was one of the most important Irish artists of the past 50 years,” Hot Press editor Niall Stokes says. “She was a singer, songwriter and performer of transcendent ability and huge emotional range and depth. Her voice was an amazing instrument, capable of moving from a whisper to a banshee wail, traversing the full spectrum of where the human spirit can take us. Her music made an enormous impact, inspiring people and touching so many of them to the very core. Her extraordinary legacy demands that we mark it in an appropriate way.”
