After four years on a path to self-renewal and spirituality, Sinead O’Connor returns to stages across Ireland this October.
After dropping a demo last summer and hinting at a music release in Autumn 2019, Sinead O’Connor has now revealed she will also be touring Ireland. The singer is known as one of the most distinctive and often controversial figures of the alternative music era.
After a traumatising childhood, O’Connor capitalised on her emotions and channelled them into a successful musical career. She was discovered by the drummer of Irish band Tua Nua and cowrote their first hit. Soon thereafter, she signed with Ensign records and her career took off. Her ensuing career was full of chart-topping singles, hit albums, and numerous awards.
Last October, O’Connor revealed that she had converted to Islam after much spiritual deliberation. “This is the natural conclusion of any intelligent theologian’s journey,” she said in a statement. She also announced that she would be changing her name to Shuhada’ Davitt.
After missing the Galway Arts Festival in 2015, Sinead will fulfil her promise to go back on 17 October with a show at Roisin Dubh. She will also play shows across the island including in Wexford, Cork, and Vicar Street in Dublin.
Tickets are €45 and will go on sale next Friday, 16 August at 10 here.
