Singer Marianne Faithfull hospitalised with coronavirus
Singer and actress Marianne Faithfull, the 73-year old 'swinging sixties' legend, is admitted to hospital in London with coronavirus.
Marianne Faithfull's agent Francois Ravard said the 73-year-old is in a stable condition and is "responding to treatment".
Mr Ravard said: "She is stable and responding to treatment, we all wish her well and a full and speedy recovery.
The performer Penny Arcade, who is a friend, told Rolling Stone that Faithfull had self-isolated following a cold. She checked herself into hospital last Monday, where she tested positive for Covid-19. She has also contracted pneumonia.
Faithfull, who was a colourful part of the 1960s scene, enjoyed solo hit singles with a number of songs including 'The Ballad of Lucy Jordan' and 'As Tears Go By'. She also released the critically-acclaimed album, Broken English and more recently Negative Capability.
In addition to her music career, Faithfull has also acted in films including Girl On A Motorcycle, as well as theatre productions.
You can revisit our 2005 interview with her here. Where she talks about being a rock icon, a tabloid sensation and a muse to Mick Jagger.
