The artist described the opportunity as "a huge gift."
Derry-based Sister Ghost will join Snow Patrol for two upcoming shows- Dublin’s 3Arena on February 25, and Belfast’s SSE Arena on February 27.
Sister Ghost is the project of artist Shannon Delores O’Neill. She is known for her support and mentoring of other female and non-binary musicians in Northern Ireland. O'Neill established the NI chapter of Girls Rock! in 2016- a volunteer-run camp aimed at supporting girls and non-binary youth to develop their self-esteem through music. In 2019, she won the Best Live Act award at the NI Music Prize.
“I can’t wait to open for Snow Patrol in Dublin and Belfast next month- it’s going to be a lot of fun! I still remember going to the first Ward Park show in 2007, where I never would have thought an opportunity like this would come along years later, so I’m honestly very excited and honoured to be on the bills,” O’Neill commented. “Roll on February!”
Her debut album, Beyond The Water, released in October last year. The record explores O’Neill’s experiences as a queer woman from a rural Irish town, and beyond it. Sister Ghost released the lead track, ‘She’s Wild’, as its own single, saying:

“This is about allowing your wilderness, or almost like a joyful rage out of you. We are still living in a patriarchal and white supremacist world that tells anyone in the margins to be quiet, be docile, and dull their spark, so this song is like a fuck you to that. It’s the opening track on my album Beyond The Water and that’s because I wanted it to open like someone kicking your door in saying “either shut up and listen, or join in!”
