The song cycle explores the life and legacy of St. Brigid in line with recent Brigid 1500 celebrations.
Sadhbh O'Sullivan, better known as Sive, has shared a new offering In Cloak and Womb, a song cycle for three voices composed by the artist.
The project was released under a Kildare County Council creativity grant. The Brigid 1500 scheme 2023 was launched to promote independent artists the creative opportunity to "honour all aspects of St. Brigid’s life and influence."
Drawing inspiration from the legacy of Brigid as a goddess and saint, In Cloak and Womb explores how "her echo might resonate in the world today, particularly in relation to themes of climate change and social justice," writes Sive.

Taking to instagram, O'Sullivan discussed the release: "Diving into the world of Brigid - whose essence stands for fire (in the belly, i mbolg) and justice as well as peace and healing - and working on these songs could not have come at a better time for me, in terms of resourcing myself to grow a heart big enough to hold this world."
In Cloak and Womb features O'Sullivan on guitar, shruti box and vocals, with Patrick Hopkins on percussion and additional vocals from Clara Rose Monahan and Sharon Murphy.
Released today, the song cycle is available to purchase online (€5) on the artist's bandcamp.
