The famed music festival, which usually takes place in Austin, Texas, is moving online this year due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Six artists from across Ireland have been selected by Music From Ireland to perform at the SXSW Online festival, including: Ailbhe Reddy, Aoife Nessa Frances, Just Mustard, Rachel Lavelle, Pillow Queens, and Tebi Rex.
The artists’ exclusive performances were filmed at the Grand Social, Dublin by Tiny Ark. Three additional Irish artists will be included in the festival line-up, including: Enola Gay, Robocobra Quartet and Sinead O’ Brien.
“It is so important as the world begins to open up again that we have been able to keep artists from Ireland in the international spotlight," says Music From Ireland founder Angela Dorgan. "MFI’s presence at the virtual presentation of SXSW is vital to sustain Ireland’s reputation for producing great artists in the North American market and to create professional opportunities in that market for this year’s showcasing artists."

“SXSW continues to be a hugely important global showcase and Culture Ireland is delighted to support the attendance of a range of bands again this year," added Culture Ireland Director Christine Sisk. "The musicians performing in 2021 are indicators of the strength and talent in the Irish music industry who deserve the global attention that other bands have achieved in previous years.”
The online version of this year's SXSW will be available to Irish audiences and industry members via sxsw.com.
