The project will be the rapper's first since releasing 'Konnichiwa' in 2016.
British rapper Skepta has unveiled his newest project Ignorance Is Bliss. He teased the announcement in an Instagram post several weeks ago, saying that he’d changed the name because, “skLEVEL is a 2018 pattern.” He also confirmed that fellow Brit Slowthai would release his own project before any more details were to come out about the new album. Finally, on April 28th, he announced in another post, that the album’s name had been confirmed, its cover art had been finalized, and its release date had been decided on.
The album is set for release on May 31st of this year, and will be the rapper’s first since 2016’s Konnichiwa. He has, however, remained visible in that time, putting out a number of standalone singles including ‘No Security,’ ‘Pure Water,’ and ‘Wish You Were Here.’ He’s also featured on albums by A$AP Rocky – featuring on stand out single ‘Praise The Lord (Da Shine)’ – and Playboi Carti – performing one of the album’s most memorable verses on ‘Lean 4 Real.’
The cover art for Ignorance Is Bliss features a series of images shot with a heat lens, reminiscent of the visual aesthetic American boyband BROCKHAMPTON embraced with their last studio album Iridescence, which came out in September of 2018, and was recorded in London, Skepta’s home city.
