And on the evidence of ‘Slow Hands’ and the album that spawned it, Antics, Interpol really do have the tunes to back up the hype. The trademark pulsing guitar sets the tone before the rest of the band kick in with four-to-the-floor gusto, briefly taking their foot off the pedal for the pre-chorus singalong of “Can’t you see what you’ve done to my heart and soul/ This is a wastaland now”, before grabbing everyone within earshot into their embrace for a massive multi-limbed charge through the kind of chorus most of their contemporaries would trade their eyeliner sponsorship deals for.
