"Fuck Boris!"
That's what you call a political statement: During his performance at the Mercury Prize ceremony, slowthai took to the stage with a decapitated mannequin head of British prime minister Boris Johnson.
The rapper was on the shortlist for album of the year with his debut record Nothing Great About Britain and performed the song 'Doorman' when he brought the head on stage. "Fuck Boris Johnson, fuck everything, and there's nothing great about Britain", he shouted while wearing a 'Fuck Boris' t-shirt.
Watch the performance below:
Afterwards, slowthai took to Social Media to announce that the 'Fuck Boris' shirts are up for sale now:

Slowthai has been very vocal about his dislike for the UK prime minister in the past. It's also apparent on Nothing Great About Britain. Hot Press' Sarah Gill noted in her review, "Something of a deranged genius, Slowthai's social commentary is utterly essential."
The Mercury Prize for album of the year ultimately went to Dave, who was nominated for his debut record Psychodrama.
The only Irish act on the shortlist was Dublin-based band Fontaines D.C. who stunned the audience with an energetic performance of their song 'Boys In The Better Land'.
