slowthai's trademark semi-inebriated playfully slurred, dynamic flow is back with a bang but with a new type of production for the rapper.
UK rapper slowthai has announced full details of his forthcoming album TYRON, scheduled for release on February 5th, 2021.
The star (real name Tyron Kaymone Frampton) also shared his second single from the record, 'nhs', which features on the follow up to his UK Top 10, Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Nothing Great About Britain.
With features from major names such as James Blake and Mount Kimbie on 'feel away' on the work, slowthai is showing off a more introspective, reflective side of himself.
His latest single 'nhs' is an ode to one of the UK's most important institutions that tears down social hierarchy and treats everyone as equal. Considering the global health epidemic currently ravaging services, the track couldn't come at a better time.
The theme of duality throughout his second album is here on display in the push-pull struggle of finding balance in life.

TYRON is a tale of two halves exposing human complexity, with side one re-introduces us to the classic hubris, machismo, and braggadocio typical of rap music.
Across the 7 tracks, cameo appearances enhance the aural assault; A$AP Rocky on ‘MAZZA’ and Skepta on ‘CANCELLED’ which addresses the practice of cancel culture and ‘progress’.
Side two takes what you thought you knew about slowthai and flips on its head. ‘feel away’ and ‘nhs’ go some way to dip a toe inside the complexities of his mind but delve even deeper.
‘terms’ featuring Dominic Fike and Denzel Curry deals with the ‘terms’ and conditions of fame and the inevitable twisting and misinterpreting of his words, and album closer ‘adhd’ is a moving self-reflection of how one can “smile on the out, but, inside keep bleeding”.
TYRON presents an artist who is unabashedly complicated and willing to explore themes of loneliness, identity, self-acceptance, and the difficulties in becoming an individual.
