The band's manager revealed earlier that Harwell was in the final stages of liver failure and receiving end of life care at his home.
The frontman of iconic 'All Star' band Smash Mouth, Steve Harwell, has passed away after receiving end of life care for liver failure.
In a statement, the group's manager, Robert Hayes, said that Harwell died at his home in Idaho, "surrounded by family and friends."
"Steve lived a 100% full-throttle life. Burning brightly across the universe before burning out," he added.
The singer retired from the band in 2021 due to physical and mental health issues. Harwell struggled with alcoholism and was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2013; and subsequently a neurological condition affecting his memory and speech.

The musician's final decision to leave his band came after he was filmed slurring his words and yelling at the audience after appearing intoxicated at a performance in New York.
Confirming on September 3 that the singer didn't have much time left to live, Smash Mouth's long-time manager Robert Hayes added that he was being cared for by his fiancée and hospice care.
Smash Mouth had a string of huge hits in the '90s and 2000s with tracks like 'All Star', 'Walkin' on the Sun' and 'I'm a Believer'.
