After cancelling last month's show due to illness, Snow Patrol announce they will return to the Olympia in less than a month for an intimate, acoustic gig.
Snow Patrol have announced a fully seated acoustic show at The Olympia Theatre on 15th January 2020. This will be fantastic news for Irish fans who missed the chance to see them last month, when the band were forced to cancel due to illness.
Over a two-decade career, Snow Patrol has carved out a unique place for themselves. Since their 1998 debut, Songs for Polarbears, which Pitchfork hailed as “an impressive piece of work,” their melancholy anthems of heartbreak and separation have mended hearts, and the band has racked up an impressive number of critical and commercial accolades, including 15 million global album sales, 1+ billion global track streams, 5 UK Platinum Albums, and are Grammy, BRIT Award and Mercury Music Prize nominated.
Recently, Hot Press' Edwin McFee chatted with frontman Gary Lightbody, who admitted an acoustic show has been in the works for a while, since the release of their latest album, Reworked.
“We’ve been playing acoustically a lot on side-tours these days, so I thought we could do an acoustic record. I talked to Johnny about it and he was like, ‘Nah, let’s do something more ambitious than that!’ I didn’t think we’d have the time, but he made time on tour and worked his butt off. We recorded the album across a hundred different cities, just setting up in hotel rooms and dressing rooms. Johnny worked until goodness-knows-when-o’clock in the morning. This is the first record we’ve ever made on the road.”
